Ill get the barrel rolling..

VII is by far the best so far in my opinion.

Best combat and leveling up system, best story......

Its an all round winner.

Yeah junction was good in theory, but really annoyed me in practise....

It got so tiresome having to draw magic from enemies.

And the 3rd or 4th time i played it, i forgot to draw Carbuncle from that lizard thing that attacks Rinoa.

THAT was annoying.

IX kinda got slated by the critics, but i really liked the way you learnt skills and magic in that. In fact the whole system on XI was pretty sweet.

Oh gosh yeah. Seven is by FAR the best out of them all. The battleling system, the story line - superb.

I liked eight because of the characters and the story line was interesting, but no where near as good as seven's. And yes, the junctioning was an annoyance. But eight was the first I played, the summer of fith grade :D That was the life.

Final Fantasy nine was the first one I beat. I LOVE that game. LOVE IT. Most definately the easiest out of them all, but only second favorite after seven.

I played ten all the way through once, and don't plan on it again.

Final fantasy 7 was the best in the series in my own opinion. It had cool locations, cool music, cool summons and the coolest villain in the entire series.

There was also plently of mini-games, which added more depth to the game. I must of completed that game about 10 times already.

My second fave game has to be FF10. The graphics on it are amazing, and some of the characters are pretty decent too (Auron mainly). It is also the biggest FF game to date (Cept 12, but I ain't completed that, I'm still working through it)

I took me 180 to complete the game fully. All grid sphere's completed, all ultimate weapons obtained, all summons obtained and maxed, All dark aeons defeated, Penance defeated (Europe only I think) and Nemesis defeated too. (In the monster arena)

Penance is by far the hardest hidden boss on an FF game. Beats Ruby any day.

He could be easily beaten with Yojimbo if he used his "Zanmato" move, but I always thought it was kinda cheap. I'd rather fight the boss usual, just to have the satisfaction. Fells like you have achieved more too.

Fair do's, even with all characters maxed, he was hard. Ruby weapon from FF7 was much easier.

I personally made a point of never using Yojimbo.

As you said...Zanmoto should be regarded as cheating. A friend of mine used it against all the bosses, and even the Dark Aeons.

Hes just cheating himself really.

Final Fantasy VII is my all time favorite. It had an awesome system, great characters, and it's story is very well written. I love all of the mini games and extra side missions that fit well with everything.

Final Fantasy VIII was an okay game, but it needed a lot of work. I hated the junction so much and the whole dream world sequences seemed to mess with stats or something. Not to mention the whole first hour or two of the game is explanation. That's waaaaay too much explanation. Short simple and to the point is all I need. Not to mention, I learn more by playing anyway.

Final Fantasy X is my second favorite. I liked the whole sphere grid thing and once I got the basics of Blitz Ball I became a champion in that game. lol

When discussing Final Fantasy, every seems to overlook IX.

I personally think it was hugely under rated.

The system for learning magic and skills was simple but effective, and the story was a brave departure from the 2 previous games.

I dont think it gets the credit it deserves.

Why dont you like XII man? I only got it a few days ago, but its shaping up to be a pretty sweet game.

The story is a little different to most FF games.....kinda more focusing on politics and war, rather than philosophy and meta-physics.

The combat system is unlike anything else in the series too.....but still has a FF feel to it.

Gotta say im loving it so far.
